About

Artistka: Author Porcelain by Hana Černá

The Artistka brand represents author porcelain that blurs the boundaries between fine art and premium applied design. Rooted in the historical tradition of cobalt painting, the work transforms it into a contemporary visual language. Each object becomes a porcelain canvas for sophisticated narratives, hidden symbolism, melancholy, and gentle irony.

Form and detail

The practice encompasses both purely artistic solitaires and objects, as well as full dining and drinkware sets. A defining feature is the absolute fusion of painting with form — decoration engulfs the entire surface as a single cohesive organism. A unique authorial detail are the so-called “sediments”: miniature micro-worlds and hidden stories incorporated directly into the bottom of cups.

Thematic collections

A significant line of work comprises unified thematic series. The collectible Pioneer Camp collection uses a retro aesthetic for an ironic reflection on the weight of historical events. The Tempore Mortuus series, in contrast, opens the theme of still life (a frozen moment standing silently) through cobalt decoration of insects that debases the pristine whiteness of porcelain.

Background and expertise

Hana Černá graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts (AVU) in Prague — painting and graphics, UMPRUM in Prague — porcelain, with internships in Finland and the Netherlands.

The Artistka project, initiated in 2010 as a form of personal creative expression, is now an established professional practice whose works move confidently between applied design and collectible art.
